As we bid adieu to 2008 and welcome 2009, lets all recollect the significant events of 2008 in Sonuji's life..lets remember all those moments of joy and happiness that we spent together rejoicing Sonuji's success in his various ventures!! Also below, is a new year message from Sonuji to all his "Sources of Inspiration"!!

Private Releases

Sonuji created a record in 2008 by releasing 3 extremely successful indipop albums in the same year.. and not to forget, a single in collaboration with Big FM!

1)Classically Mild: Sonuji released his album Classically Mild with Sa Re Ga Ma HMV on February 11th 2008. Through this album, he wanted to prove to the world that even good music can sell, if packaged properly...The album is a revolution since it created a new genre in itself and opened a new avenue for musicians..The album faired extremely well on the charts,reinforcing Sonuji's belief!! The video of the song Soona Soona received a lot of appreciation too!!

2)Rafi Resurrected: Rafi Resurrected was Sonuji's humble tribute to his musical father, Late Mohd Rafi in collaboration with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under the banner of Sa Re Ga Ma HMV..The album was released in London on 17th June 2008 and later shipped to the rest of the world!! It has 17 evergreen tracks of the maestro, relived by Sonuji with a lot of humility,passion and respect!!

3)Maha Ganesha: Maha Ganesha was released on 11th August 2008 at the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Mumbai under the banner of Times Music. It is a musical and spiritual journey to savour with 7 marvellous prayers written in Sanskrit!!

4)Punjabi Please: Sonuji joined hands with Big 92.7 FM to launch his pulsating single Punjabi Please on 3rd March 2008. The song has been composed,written and sung by Sonuji himself!!

2008 has been an extremely productive year on this front also..Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte is currently making waves and the reviews for just the humming in Guzarish are spectacular..Mannata found a place in the hearts of many and In Lamhon Ke Daaman me spread magic..Soniyo is the new sensation!! Hightlight Events

* Sonuji served as judge for Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa lil champs early this year..The show started in late 2007 and ended grandly on the 1st March 2008! Sonui also made appearances as guest judge on other reality shows like Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar and Amul Star Voice of India!!
* Sonuji launched his oficial website sonuniigaam.in on Feb 11th 2008 along with the launch of his album Classically Mild!
* The single Punjabi please made waves as soon as it was launched. Sonuji did a 5 city tour of India in April with 5 of BIG FM's talent hunt winners, who got a chance to perform with him live on stage!
* The major tour this year was the Rafi Resurrected tour in July with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in which Sonuji left audiences in Birmingham,Manchester and London spellbound by his performance. The London event was also telecasted on Sony Entertainment Television on September 21st 2008!
* Sonuji did very successful tours all around the globe with his band this year including South Africa,Australlia,New Zealand,Kuwait,Dubai,Hong Kong,Spain,Bangladesh among others and of course in almost every city in India!
* Sonuji won the South Indian Filmfare award this year for his rendition of the song Ninnindale in the Kannada film "Milana"!
* Sonuji's lil son Nevaan turned 1 year old on 25th July 2008 and Sonuji celebrated it grandly with a jaagran attended by top notches in the industry. Please keep showering ur blessings on lil Nevaan :-)
* Sonuji featured on the cover of the September 2008 issue of OK! India magazine..This was the the first time that any Indian singer featured on the cover of an International magazine!
* Sonuji made his ramp debut this year at the Chivas Fashion Tour for designers Shantanu and Nikhil also featuring Diya Mirza and Neha Dhupia!
* Sonuji was awarded the best singer award at the Indian Television Awards for the rendition of the title track of the serial Amber Dhara!
* Screen recently declared Sonuji as the most respected male singer for 2008..Inspite of cutiing down on work and being selective, the quality that he has delivered and continues to deliver is far above other singers!!

The Road Ahead

2009 holds lots in store like any other year for a Sonu Niigaam fan..We have a Kannada album lined up for release in early 2009..Expected playback releases include films like 3 Idiots,Veer,Rang Rasiya,Striker,Dulha Mil Gaya,Shorkut - The Con is On,Khaffa, Bhavnaao Ko Samjo, Marathan,The Gold bracelet, Rivaaz, Friends Forever and many more..Sonuji will feature in Talat Azizji's album to be released in Jan 2009 and also in Jagjit Singhji's album Guru Maneyo Granth..Many other exciting things coming up which we will reveal slowly as the year progresses..will keep u posted on significant tours too!

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM SONUJI

"As every year passed when I was a kid, I'd see myself becoming taller and bigger physically. Until one day I realised I stopped growing any taller and became a man. And then just recently,I realised I stopped growing physically cuz it was the turn of my soul to grow! For only when my soul grows healthily and reaches a certain respectable level of maturity and consciousness, can I be upgraded from a Man to a Child...God's Child! How strange is this transformation from a Child to a Man and then back to a Child. From Physical growth to Spiritual growth! Hence, every end of the year, I check myself if I have downgraded myself to being the Man I was or Upgraded myself to the Child I wanna be! This year, like a lot of us, I too have felt a conflict of beliefs in my mind, as to whether being the child I wanna be, can counter the gory evils of the rest of the ignorant world?or do I need to be a Man to tackle it the traditional way? And as the year ends,I have found my answer which I'd like to share with all the people who follow my career,ideologies and thought process!

I shall be the reflection of the purity of God's love and light.I shall love and not hate! I shall work and not only preach! I shall regard people who spread love, as messengers of God, and those who spread hatred and evil,as people in desperate need of God's love! I shall not avenge them. Just like I dont slap a blind man if he happens to push me unknowingly,regarding him as handicapped, so will I regard the narrowminded,cruel,nasty,vindictive,racist,fanatic,bully;a Handicapped. I will keep collecting good people around me and keep myself positively charged and inspired. I'd like to give and share as much as I can cuz any moment could be my last moment on earth..Hence I would like to go away from this planet without any baggage or debt.
